Do’s & Don’ts

DO

Care routine

Wipe the door, the box and the trim as separate materials.

  • ✓Use a soft, slightly damp cloth on the PVC soft-touch door faces and on the melamine-finished box and drawer interiors.
  • ✓Dry the surface afterward with a second, clean cloth.
  • ✓Apply cleaner to the cloth first so it does not pool in seams, along the toe kick or around cabinet hardware.
  • ✓Wipe visible hinge and slide hardware with a dry or barely damp cloth only.

Following the cleaning guidance above helps protect the finish day to day, but it is general care advice rather than a warranty term.

DON’T

What to avoid

Avoid abrasive cleaning on the PVC soft-touch finish.

  • ✕Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders and solvent-based degreasers on the PVC soft-touch finish.
  • ✕Do not spray cleaner directly onto the cabinet.
  • ✕Avoid household grease, oil sprays or degreasers on the soft-close mechanism itself.
  • ✕Do not wipe paint-ready trim with a wet cloth before paint is applied.

Abrasive cleaning can dull or scratch the matte texture.

Hardware care

Six-way adjustment

Doors and drawers use DTC hinges that adjust in six directions.

Soft-close

Hinges and drawer slides have a built-in soft-close action.

Wiping

Wipe visible hinge and slide hardware with a dry or barely damp cloth only.

Why it matters:The wrong product can attract dust or interfere with the built-in closing action.

VanStro kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities combine a PVC Matte Soft-Touch door finish over ¾" MDF thermofoil in Shaker style, a ¾" plywood cabinet box with double-sided melamine, and a ⅝" plywood drawer box with melamine finish. These are factory-finished surfaces, not solid wood. Wipe the door, the box and the trim as separate materials.

Daily and weekly cleaning

For everyday cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth on the PVC soft-touch door faces and on the melamine-finished box and drawer interiors. Both finishes are factory-sealed, so a light wipe removes fingerprints, dust and light kitchen residue without soaking into the substrate. Dry the surface afterward with a second, clean cloth. Do not let moisture air-dry on the finish, especially along door edges and drawer-box seams where two finished surfaces meet.

Use a slightly damp cloth on the door face. Do not spray cleaner onto the cabinet.

What to avoid

Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders and solvent-based degreasers on the PVC soft-touch finish. The matte texture is designed to resist fingerprints, and abrasive cleaning can dull or scratch that texture. The matte texture cannot be sanded and recoated. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the cabinet; apply it to the cloth first so it does not pool in seams, along the toe kick or around cabinet hardware.

Hardware care

Doors and drawers use DTC six-way adjustable soft-close hinges and drawer slides. Wipe visible hinge and slide hardware with a dry or barely damp cloth only, and avoid household grease, oil sprays or degreasers on the soft-close mechanism itself. These mechanisms are not designed to be lubricated by the customer, and the wrong product can attract dust or interfere with the built-in closing action.

Baseboard and trim. If your order includes VanStro baseboard or trim, the material is finger-jointed pine with a sanded, paint-ready putty-white surface. The surface is prepared for painting, not pre-finished. Keep it dry during storage and installation. Do not wipe it with a wet cloth before paint is applied — raised grain from moisture can show through the finish coat.

Finish and colour notes. Cabinets are available in White and Light Grey. These are opaque, factory-applied finishes. Minor sheen differences between panels are normal, not a defect. Cleaning products will not correct a colour or sheen mismatch. Contact your dealer instead if you notice a mismatch you are concerned about.

What your warranty does and does not cover

VanStro’s warranty on cabinets, vanities, hinges and drawer slides runs twelve (12) months from the date of original end-customer purchase and covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. It excludes normal wear and tear, damage from misuse or improper installation, and changes caused by environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature and light exposure. Following the cleaning guidance above helps protect the finish day to day, but it is general care advice rather than a warranty term. For any claim, refer to the full warranty document rather than this page.
